further info required for application

have just spoken to my broker who says solent require further info from me.
I do understand why they have asked for a couple of things but dont know why they have asked for the following..
dates of birth of any dependants
account numbers of any financial commitments
why do they need this info and what can they do with the account numbers??

    Dates if birth for dependants is standard. It is in case they are of the age where they will be required to sign a consent to mortgage (17 and over). This is so they can not claim rights over the property if you default and the lender goes for a reposession.

    Account numebrs of financial commitments is also standard so that they can outline in the offer if it is a condition that the credit is being repaid (normally they add this condition when you are consolidating debts)
