I have tried to stop buying anything ready made, and it all seems to be a lot healthier too. I just don't understand the obsession with plastic! What is wrong with bread in paper bags, and fresh cakes in boxes?
Your local authority might recycle tetrapaks. As they provide some funding to local authorities to install the equipment.
The local milk man also used to deliver orange juice when we were kids unfortunately I dont have a local milk round here.0 -

To be slightly pedantic, no Tetrapaks are recycled in the UK, but are collected for shipping to Norway which has the only recycling plant in Europe.0 -
I think that your idea is a really good one. However, I would have a problem as I need to keep all the ingredients/allergy lists for products.
Somehow, I think that the rest of the queue would be a bit narked if they waited for me to remove the outer cardboard, cut out the ingredients and then packed the loose product.
However, I will try and do it with anything that isn't food related. I wish you luck and hope that your campaign catches on. The amount of packaging out there is ridiculous.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
I've been trying to think of ways to reduce the amount of rubbish we throw out as a family too.
There is only limited recycling collections from our house - only glass and paper.
I was quite shocked recently, when trying to find out the nearest cardboard recycling point that there was only one in our town. I guess most people get it collected.
Recently I have started getting organic veg/fruit boxes which are great packaging wise. The box it comes in flat packs and gets re-used and there is no packaging on the veg.0 -

I manage life without tetrapacks - therefore no problem in recycling them for me!Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
