The OR is supposed to wait for 3 months after their report to creditors before they can start the early discharge process. That then takes a little under two months normally.

So if your report was done quickly after your BR, then you may be looking at ED in just over 5 months.

The earliest I have ever heard of is 5 months and 1 day.

ED is never guaranteed as the admin for it is a low priority task. So at the very least you have some waiting to do yet.

Get that document back to them pronto! Sounds good news.

  • Can you apply to the OR for an early discharge then?

You can't apply to the OR. And they get annoyed if you ask them for it.

But if your case is such that the OR can conclude all the admin and dealing with assets within 10 months of the bankruptcy order (or earlier), then at their discretion they can file for your early discharge.
