Natural remedies for asthma

I was diagnosed with asthma last year and use the brown and blue inhalers. I would say my asthma isnt very bad but if I forget to use the brown inhaler I have to use the blue one several times a day and at night.
I was looking up natural remedies for asthma last night, one site mentioned magnesium, another said caffeine can relieve the symptoms. I've read that apple juice can prevent it in children.
What have you tried and did it work?

The only thing I've ever been aware of is breathing training, and DH hasn't ever tried this. There is an article on the Asthma UK site about it, and I would recommend that you check any advice with a dedicated Asthma organisation, your GP or Asthma nurse.
Obviously if the problem is related to allergies, then avoiding the triggers is helpful, if at all possible! DH does his best to avoid cats and dogs for this reason, and homes where they roam free, but cats of course make a beeline for him and claw their way up his legs!
In the meantime, think about how you could remember to use your preventer: does it need to be with your toothbrush, or left on your pillow each morning so you can't go to bed without seeing it? I'm offering this as a moneysaving tip, because DH uses his relievers very very rarely, so we only need a regular prescription for the preventer!
Also I have asked abuse whether they are happy to leave your question here, because we really don't want anyone unable to breathe properly because they found some bright idea here ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I'm feeling guilty because I ran out of my preventer several months ago. I havent got a repeat prescription because the doctor wants to see me first and I havent made that appointment yet. I always remembered to take it when I had it though.
Of course I will speak to my doctor, I was just after anyone elses experiences.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
Ah, NOW I say again - using your preventer saves money! Because if you only have to use it once or maybe twice a day, but find yourself using the reliever more than twice a day if you don't have a preventer ... You KNOW it makes sense ... :rotfl:Signature removed for peace of mind0
