My 3 year old xbox gas given up the ghost and the internal hard drive has failed so the console no longer works.
With xmas coming up has anyone seen any bargains for the original xbox console, not bothered about any extra goodies , just need to find a good deal on a console.
Cheers

Argos have these for 99.99 - buy a gift voucher for £1 and then you'll get a 10 voucher free.
Or, just wait a few weeks - once the 360 has launched these should plummet ... and there will be lots on ebay..HLK

Thanks , I wouldn't have bothered getting a replacement if the 360 was fully backward compatible with original xbox titles.
Bad timing for my machine to pack in with the 360 coming out in a month and xmas shooping to buy as well
I think Asda or tesco had a good deal on the console the other week ,but it was only for a limited time.0 -

I agree about the timing, but I think the 360 is definitely going to be worth it. Hubby works for Microsoft, and they did a staff presentation with it just over a week ago. He said it was awesome, and the lucky so-and-so's will this week have the 360's put in their games rooms to play with. With all of the great stuff they have to do on-site, I'm surprised they get any work done lol!0 -
Yes , I reckon the 360 will be a great piece of kit to have , with any luck I will be in posession of one on 2 December 05.
Still need an old one though as I play a lot of games on xbox live and the new version will not be totally backward compatible.
Sounds a great idea having them at work, very nice.0 -

Have you considered getting it modded? If you do you could replace the hard disk. It would also be cheaper than a new box.
If you don't want the modchip installed you could probably find someone that would install, replace the drive and remove the chip.
You may have a problem though if you use xbox live - changing the drive could get you banned.0 -
That is the problem , if I get the hard drive replaced at a 3rd party place there is a chance that even though the drive has been replaced it will still be recognised as a modded console when I use live. You use a modded xbox on live and you're history. Microsoft charge £79 to get it changed.
Probably just pick up a new console, looks like the easiest option.0
