I usually buy as I did today Ariel Colour liquid which is £3.29 and does 20 washes. I also buy the ariel non-bio for my whites. My OH and I have sensitive skin. Today I noticed sainsbury Proforma colour and it was only £1.89 for 20 washes and wondered if anyone else had used it and if it was okay for sensitive skin. Do they do a non-bio white version? Is they anything else I could try which was less than £3.29?

Sainsbury's powder is fine for my family's sensitive skin. However my washing machine doesn't like it as it goes lumpy in the powder drawer. I now use Tesco own make (About £1.59) Bio, Colour & Non Bio (for different types of clothes). No probs at all. I find that fabric softner is more likely to set off reaction than washing powder. I stick to comfort sensitive.

On white or heavily soiled items I use half washing powder and half bicarb on a hot wash. Otherwise I use about 2 tablespoons on it's own.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

I used homemade up until a couple of weeks ago. Get some cheap soap from Asda/Teso (21p for three bars). Grate it and mix with same quantity of soda crystals (about 50p from superarket). I used about half a bag of crystals to one bar of soap. Works even better if you run it through the food processor or blender.
I found it worked perfectly well but ... whites came out less than white. I also wondered all that soap in the machine so used Persil bio once a week for my whites on a hot wash.
Have run outof soda crystals but will definitely make some more - so cheap it has to be worth a try. It's also a pleasant enough task making it - next time I might even use home made soap!0 -
Its not nearly as OS as the previous posters - sorry. I use tesco own brand liquid. Only ever use the minimum, sometimes even less and 1 1.5l bottle will so me about 26-30 washes. My son has exzema and this is one of the few that doesnt cause him a flare up so it would prob be ok on sensitive skin too.Its £2.30.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0

I use Tesco non bio powder. A large box does 45 washes & it costs £3.74!! We have sensitive skin in our house and have had no problems with it! I also use their biological in the same range - again no problems (although I do put kids clothes on an extra rinse- just in case:)) A box of each can last us a month or more (and I do a LOT of washing.)
Have to stick to Comfort Pure though for the softener -itch like mad if we use anything else!!!!20p Saver Club #33 60p/£100

Can I ask what to most may be a silly question?
What is the difference between bio and non bio?
I use Daz as its really good for whites. The box I have at the moment is 2.85 kg and it says 30 washes on it, but I got 50 washes out of the last box. I tried cutting down the amount of powder I use to half a scoop and I have noticed no difference at all except to my bank balance! Fab conditioner is Aldi easy iron, so far I have got 45 washes out of a standard sized bottle as its concentrated. I started to keep a tally on the side of the bottle out of interest to see how far I could stretch it.0
