How do I clean my awning?

I have just received a lovely working awning from freecycle :j:j:j:j:j
Unfortunately the material is covered in green algae stuff. I have given it an initial scrub and hose down but need HELP on how to bring it up as good as new.
I could borrow my mums steamer, any hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I really like the material

Hi the awning is to be screwed onto the side of my house, it is one of those wind out jobbies. It is like deckchair material.

I tried everyones suggestions but nothing seemed to work until I started to use the mould remover spray we have for the bathroom its great and its working a treat soon it'lll be perfect :-)0
