Attention All Brokers!

I need advice from experienced brokers, Im seriously considering taking my Cemap exams/training as I have been developing for 2 years now and have found the mortgage sides of things quite appealing.

What I really need to know is...In our current market is there work out there? Obviously i understand that at the moment times are hard but when is a good time to start?

Is there lots of scope, ie if the mort side dries up for a while is there other products which can sustain an income?

Any advice would be great

Thanks

Rob

Not if you are a mortgage adviser.

Dont bother. You would make more money working in KFC than starting up now.

Unless you want to work for a bank. They will train you, pay you a (poor) salary....work you 8-8 6 days a week and slap high targets on you with loaded products...

But surely things are not going to last like this right?

Last house price crash was over 6 years (depending on region).

I can't see it ever going back to quite way it was before (although that's not necessarily a bad thing!) I reckon 3-4 years before I'd do anything about a career change, if I was in your situation.

Well I start my new jobon Monday, outside of FS and I will not be going back!

If you can live on £15k per annum then go for it, in a few years things will get better. Most broker I talk to are anything from 30-50% down.
