Just received first council tax bill for whole period 2004-2008

'On time' would have been 4 years ago for the first £1750;)
Clearly they don't think so.
As they have sent a bill for the entire period back to 2004 with installments going to the end of this tax year, exactly as if it were just a bill for this (2008-2009) year.
As much as you all have a go at me, they obviously aren't of the opinion that I should have spent the last few years begging them for a bill, otherwise they would have sent something other than an absolutely standard bill (albeit for a longer period than usual).0 -

What do you think that people should say to you?
You tried to avoid paying a statutory charge. You got found out. Do you expect sympathy?Gone ... or have I?0 -

I didn't try to avoid anything, if the council is too incompetent to send out a bill for nearly five years (and seems like this happens often from the other post in this thread), then sorry, but I'm not going to call them up to beg to pay a bill I haven't even received.0 -
well I have got the correct bill now.
Called them up 'can I please pay by installments?'
Pleasant-sounding man 'Ok, how much can you afford to pay?'
Me (sounding hopeful): '£200 per month?'
Pleasant-sounding man, biting my hand off: 'Yes, that will be fine, I'll send you out a payment card'
Me: 'A what, is there any other way to pay?'
Pleasant-sounding man: 'You can pay by standing order, when can you afford to make the first payment.'
Me (struggling to sound like it will make the slightest difference to me when I pay): 'Er, after the first of the month?'
I'm surprised they were so obliging, I clearly should have offered less....0
