Hoover 'The One' Upright Vacuum Cleaner

I have a Samsung 7600 vacuum cleaner which I loved up to the point I needed to replace one of the filters.
Works brilliantly, powerful and adjustable suction, small size, easy to empty, etc. The filters are removable and easy to clean, BUT when the filter wore out (over 2 years intensive use), it was impossible to obtain a replacement.
Contacted Samsung, they direct you to another company that handles their spares. The spares company don't know the specific part number, but are very helpful and search their database, but they haven't got pictures or any other way of identifying actual part. Been sent 3 'filters' so far, and none are the right ones.
Back to Samsung, who state they have no way of identifying part either, and direct you to the spares company. Point out to Samsung Customer Services that its their product, and that I have made several attempts already at purchasing 'filter', and without the specific part number I can't order the right part. Samsung repeatedly stated that they can't identify part either - go to spares company.
After 3 weeks of this I gave up. They don't care about customers trying to use their products.0 -
cousinjack wrote:help! have been looking for new vacuum, what are the Dysons like? they are expensive but are they worth it? any help would be appreciated as have only used hoover uprights in the past. (I have a lot of hard flooring and carpet)
I have had dyson's for about 8 years now and with 6 cat's and four children- I think they are marvellous. The Animal one is really good if you have pets. We now have one upstairs and one downstairs!! We have an anti-allergen one upstairs with a special filter and that is also good. I remember when I first bought mine, they told me to strip our bed and hoover the mattress. OH MY GOD....if anyone buys a Dyson, try and remember to do this!! Thought I was going to need therapy......0 -
Dysons are good but the build quality has gone downhill in the last few years. Our first lasted four years, now we don't get more than 2 before they need replacing. They need replacing because they do, eventually, lose suction.0

Can only echo good things about performance of the Dyson. However, can also say that reliabilty poor. Had two new motors in my first, luckily one was whilst still under warranty. On both uprights the hoses do not last and neither do the tool attachments. Dyson good whilst in warranty and will send ot replacements, but after that yo have to pay up!!
Build quality has perhaps deteriorated since they moved production to the far east (was it Malaysia?) in order to save costs - did not see any corresponding reduction in RRP though. No wonder James Dyson is one of the highest paid company bosses in the UK - rip off Britain?0 -
Dyson are currently offering a 5 year parts and labour guarantee if you purchase through selected retailers. I know John Lewis is one of these retailers full details can be seen by selecting one of the dysons that John Lewis sells, the link is below.

Just noticed that they're offering a free tool for uprights (choice of 4) as well

I too can only say good things in terms of dyson. The customer service is fantastic. One of the only hoovers which is easy to take appart by yourself and clean out. I used to own a DC01, I found replacing filters was required too often and the emptying the bin for it silly, that all the dust went up in your face when emptying. So upgraded to the DC07. I definitly noticed difference in terms of allergies. (hayfever and dust) The brush bar plate also changed no need for screwdrivers just a 2pence and you can easily open it, a new design brush bar which means easy cutting off long hair and string that gets tangled! The emptying of the DC07 bin is fantastic! Comes out the bottom with a pull of a easy trigger and is fully approved by british allergy foundation. So easy to use my 6 year old knows what to do!

I wonder is anyone has any experience of Morphy Richards 73322, or Dirt Devil DD9605x3? (we have two dogs and one cat)
I've had x 2 Dyson's over the last 15 years, and love them, however, second one has just given up the ghost, and due to money being tight at the mo, I can't replace with a dyson, and have to get a cleaner from Littlewoods! I saw the post re the Electrolux, and must admit, have been put off by various reviews on different vacs and their terrible customer service. I have no experience with either Morphy Richards or Dirt Devil and so was hoping for some advice?
Many thanks for your help!
