Enjoy a luxury two-week break in stunning Sri Lanka
This month, win a 14-night trip to discover the beauty of Sri Lanka, courtesy of Advantage Luxury Specialist and Kuoni
A fabulous chance to explore the lush and diverse delights of Sri Lanka is on offer with this month's competition, thanks to Advantage Luxury Specialist and Kuoni. One lucky reader and guest will enjoy a 14-night holiday, visiting some of the island's most celebrated sights.
The trip will begin with a seven-night tour with a personal driver, allowing the pair to visit a number of stunning locations. They will stay at Cinnamon Lodge, a pretty, comfortable hotel in Habarana, which is situated in woodland beside a lake and is well located for visiting historic sites such as the dramatic 5th-century rock fortress at Sigiriya. The pair will then set off for the cultural centre of Kandy, staying at the Chaaya Citadel Hotel, nearby.
From here, they will be driven to Nuwara Eliya, a town set 6,000 feet above sea level in the heart of Sri Lanka's tea plantations; the surrounding mountains are carpeted with velvety, green tea bushes, interrupted by gushing waterfalls and streams.
After the tour, the winner and guest will settle at the luxurious Bentota Beach Hotel for seven nights on half-board basis. Set between a riverbank and a sandy shore, the hotel is a truly idyllic place in which to unwind. And if the pair fancy taking some exercise in these lovely surroundings, there is no shortage of sporting opportunities. The hotel is home to a freshwater pool; tennis and squash courts; a fitness centre; and a diving school. Guests may play table tennis; badminton; beach volleyball; or try some watersports on the lagoon. Having worked up an appetite, they may choose from several restaurants to enjoy a fine meal.
Which crop is grown on the hills around Nuwara Eliya?
I think the answer might be tea - but can someone confirm
