I have had a quick look at what you have said and I cannot see why the Nationwide are saying no.

I have arranged a number of mortgages for clients with Nationwide and your circumstances appear to fit their criteria!!

It may be that you have spoken to the wrong person.

Confused, you'll find that after tax the OPs salary works out to £390.72 a week. So thats approx £160 spare a month for the bills...I'm confused too? Mortgage must be over 35 years or something like that.

The thing is with a mortgage most banks wont lend to you unless your in employment, and if you retire at 65, it would mean them having to be in there early 30's to have a mortgage of over 30 years.

I also think they have stopped these 35 year mortgage deals now, like you say i dont think theyve done their sums correclty.

I for one wouldnt want to be paying a mortgage until the day i retire, it would be a nightmare.

if you put the figures into there affordability calculator they will only lend them 174,000 pounds maximum over 25 years and no longer,so they would be 16000 pound out and thats with out fees and stamp duty.

    Are you sure?

Looks like the Nationwide adviser knows their criteria
