yoghurt experiment-any ideas please

as I have made a few batches of ordinary yogurt now I thought I would be clever and experiment a bit but although edible didnt turn out as I expected. I bought a big pot of yog from tesco cant remember the make but it was a big pot, thick and creamy and was coconut flavoured. Thought it was so yummy until I read how many calories were in it!!! Anyway I had some coconut powder in my cupboard so when I made a batch yesterday first mixed up some of the powder with milk then did yog in normal way. Was ready this morning and its set fine if a little runnier than normal but that intense creamy taste isnt there. maybe I should have added a lot more coconut powder as I only added a spoon or two? And how do i get it creamy tasting instead of that slight tang that natural yog has? To be honest up til now the only way I have ever used nat yog was to add mint sauce to but amd now becoming used to the taste just with some fruit. Are flavourings best added after or can some be added at the time of making it?
