Advice please: Argos Special Offers (Not RO)

I spotted a special offer on Argos web-site last night for two items that I was looking to buy anyway. Don't think me selfish, but I won't post the catalogue numbers yet as I don't want to prejudice the chance of a real bargain. If there is a bargain to be had, I'll post them later  

Item A, is priced at £79.99. Item B, at £99.99

Item A had the special offer wording "Save total of £100 when you buy <item a> and <item b> together. To receive this offer add both items to trolley"
I was quite surprised excited at the prospect of effectively getting the dearer item free but when I added them the price was only reduced by £30.00.

In the listings, the prices had a small red asterisk next to the price, but I couldn't find a footnote to explain what this symbol indicated.

Now the questions:

• Does anyone know what the asterisk denotes?
• If I go into store armed with a copy of the webpage, what is the likely outcome?
• Should I phone Customer Service?
• Should I just accept that it is a typo on the website (as they are unlikely to genuinely be offering £100 discount on a purchase of £179.98 )?

Just looked back at the webpage and answered my first question, the asterisk denotes that the item has not been price reduced. Don't know how I missed that last night ???

The * on argos website normally means "see the additional information panel on the left of the page for more info".

If you hover the mouse over the *, it should confirm this though.

I spoke to Customer Service who (surprise surprise) told me it was due to an error in the description of the second item, which should have said that it was already reduced by £70.00. This, together with the £30.00 for buying both items gave the total saving of £100.00, and that they were not able to honour the £100.00 saving the description suggested.

Got a £10.00 voucher for bringing it to their attention though which is better than nowt
