A quicker solution - just lie.
Seriously though, you should bear in mind that following the advice above advice will no doubt invalidate your insurance policy should they ever find out the truth.
Um, no it's not a lie - that's the point Neko, and I very specifically pointed that out - please do not call me a liar - I might be totally and utterly useless with money, and a total scumbag and waste of space in the rest of life, but I am NOT a liar and take great offence at the implication that I am.
The whole scheme that I thought I had explained clearly, and if it wasn't clear enough I apologise whole heartedly, was that you weren't lying and were infact at ALL points telling the truth - the BR person moved out, and you got insurance with them not being there - no lie involved. They moved back in - you checked the small print to see if this needed to be declared. As it probably will, you phone them and tell them the person has moved in, and hope that the company don't want to go through all the forms again and therefore have to declare that a BR person is living there. The point is about not volunteering information - it's about not phoning up and going 'Please penalise us for once having money issues, for a reason you know nothing about and might well not have been our/my fault' - it's about taking an unfair situation and looking for loopholes - something that financial (and a myriad of other) institutes do everyday. And obviously it's slightly tongue in cheek, as you point out it is a lot of work - another apology from me if trying to put a bit of humour into things is not allowed on these boards nowadays.Do not feed the trolls please.0 -

But in your ealier post, you said the BC person would go away for a long weekend and you pretend to have a big argument in front of the neighbours, isnt that DECEIT?
www.dictionary.com decribes deceit as
–noun 1.the act or practice of deceiving; concealment or distortion of the truth for the purpose of misleading; duplicity; fraud; cheating: Once she exposed their deceit, no one ever trusted them again. 2.an act or device intended to deceive; trick; stratagem. 3.the quality of being deceitful; duplicity; falseness: a man full of deceit."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

Pixie, I'm not having a go, but as shadowdragon says, the execution of your plan would involve a fair bit of duplicity. I accept that people have to do what they have to do....I totally go with only telling people what they need to know, and not volunteering info needlessly, though I don't know if lying/misleading/whatever you want to call it on your insurance is the best plan....BCSC Member 70:j

Never mind all that, we need ways of putting an end to this. I have no home insurance now, god help me if anything happened, but I have looked into getting cover and just changed my mind when I seen the dreaded question we are talking about. So if anyone can think of the best people to complain to please add them here. I also would like details of any insurance companies that are not against BR if there are any infact. Do car insurances ask btw?0

This subject comes up every couple of months, so far you haven’t had the usual responses.
Apparently in the view of the insurer, that a BR is more likely to make fraudulent claims, or so where told.
So the first thing you should ask is not who to complain too but just what real world study that belief is based on.
If it has no foundation then you may have a basis to take issue with it, but if a so called study shows it to be the case then you would need to challenge that before anyone would listen.
Just my thoughtsThats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….0 -
I made an insurance claim a couple of years ago (well in advance of even thinking of BR) as we had a fire in our house. I was asked if anyone who resides in my home is BR. So I would assume they mean on the date of the claim.
I do feel the whole thing is unfair. Just because I found myself in a postition to go bankrupt does not mean I'm a criminal! There was a thread on here a while back listing BR friendly insurance companies.

Regarding home ins- when I went bankrupt, I called my house insurance company (Esure- part of Halifax), anonymously- they told me they would cancel the policy. I tried More Than- I told them I was an undischarged bankrupt and they said they were ok with that- they even let me pay monthly and its cheaper than Esure.
I didnt ask what would happen if I actually made a claim (obviously as a bankrupt I may feel the odd urge to burn the house down/flood the bathroom etc),but they are fully aware of my "status" and I assumed I was covered- I hope so anyway.0 -
Personal insolvency attacks the very fibre of "the Institution", many of the ruling classes are shareholders in banks and insurance companies, this is why BR's cant be seen to "get away" with it, "it" being having credit (at god knows what interest rate) and not paying it back, BR is seen in the same light as theft by many, rob a bank/go BR, its on the same level, the order of things, civilisation as we know it, will collapse if loans/credit/mortgages are not repaid in full and on time.
So whereas a bank robber can get 5 years, do 3, then walk free and only the police or CRB can check him, your BR is on the internet (london gazette) for ETERNITY....free for all and sundry to see whilst whiling away an hour or two
MEANWHILE, said "ruling classes" suck up to "decent fellows" who have jolly good businesses and a possible investment for them, and are jolly sorry when the company folds, and no more is said....0 -
Hi Max....know what you say!!
In my case the said companies/creditors have had many, many thousands in interest over the years!!!!! far more than I have spent!!!!
I think this current climate is `unchartered waters` for this generation but hope that the BR issue becomes an accepted fact of personal financing......as it is for a Limited Company...that can go into Vol Liq/Admin etc at any time.
Good to see you sweetie,

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 600 employees and has the following employee statistics .
29 have been accused of spouse abuse.
7 have been arrested for fraud.
9 have been accused of writing bad cheques.
17 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses.
3 have done time for assault.
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit.
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges.
8 have been arrested for shoplifting.
21 are currently defendants in lawsuits.
84 have been arrested for drink driving in the last year.
Which organisation is this ?
It's the 635 members of the House of Commons!!!!!!!!!!!0
