5 Year Checkable History

Options
I am starting a new job tomorrow, a condition of the job is that they can obtain a 5 year checkable history. I have accounted for all dates except for 3 working days in February 2007 (I ended that job at the end of the month, didn't start the new one till the first Monday in March.

2nd gap is when I left that job, I took a weeks holiday so can't account for that. Is this likely to cause problems of do they take the odd week away into account?

I did have a part time employer I worked 3 hours a week for the last 6 years so I guess I could use that for those days?

What do they mean checkable; should you have been at work every single day or just that you can account for all days. I regularly take weeks off between jobs and i've every right to do so. Can't you just tell them the truth, that you took leave inbetween various jobs?

That is the plan, hopefully that will be acceptable to them!

Checkable history doesnt mean you have to account for every single day. Gaps would only be noticeable if they were for months at a time, and even then you could just cite travel or study.

If they are that odd that they notice a week long gap in your employment, then you've been on holiday, so what!

Chill! They want to be able to contact your employers over the past 5 years, and to check that you haven't been in prison. A week's break here and there won't faze them at all!

Good luck with the new job.

On my cv I only list the month that I started or left a job.

    Say I started a job 26th April 2006, and left it on November 12th 2007 (e.g.) I would put April 2006 - November 2007.

No one has ever had a problem with that.

For the periods when I temped, I put the whole period into one. E.g. April 2006 to April 2008 - A varied range of temporary assignments. The most notable of these were (then list assignments of longer than 2 or 3 months and list principal duties / skills like you would for permanent jobs).

Doing it this way just gives a lot more consistency to your CV and you don't have to account for every single day.
