yes cancel after the first DD is taken out and then they wont take any more from you, I have done loads like this and never had a problem,

Yes they will, but as soon as that has been debited you can cancel the DD. I often find that if you cancel the DD via your usual online banking site, they will send an extra issue prior to attempting to bill you, so you could get 7 issues for £6 Doesn't always work, but in my experience it usually does.
