PS for everyone wondering about the 12 months min subscription term take note of the Direct Debit terms which states you can cancel your direct debit at any time so just cancel after they have taken the first payment of £6 and jobs a good un as they say :)
I have never had any problems and have always done this:T

I have just ordered the 10 month Vogue subscription as an Xmas present (Thanks!) and been e-mailed my Direct Debit Guarantee. It clearly states that

"This guarantee is offered by all Banks and Building Societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme. The efficiency and security of the Scheme is monitored and protected by your own Bank or Building Society.

    Y
ou can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society. Please also send a copy of your letter to Conde Nast."

So even if you sign up for 24 months, if you pay every 6 months you should be able to cancel after the first payment and keep the free gift!

    I use:

    http://www.magazinedeals.co.uk/

There are a large range of Dennis Publishing magazines there. I have been doing the 3 for £1 and then cancelling direct debit thing for ages. I just re-subscribe to it afterwards and start it all over again.

By the same logic, can I cancel my Direct Debit for my electricity bill after the first payment and expect free electric for the rest of the year?

I doubt that the magazine company would chase you for the money as it's such a small amount but if you agree to sign up for 24 months, just canceling your direct debit does not really get rid of your obligation to pay for 24 months does it?

  • I got a bargain on the FHM Direct Debit 12 month subscription. £12 for the year, plus £5 cashback with topcashback.co.uk.

First, open up a new window and go to topcashback.co.uk (register if you are not already a member). Search for Great Magazines and follow it through to the site. Once there, copy www.greatmagazines.co.uk/jsgg into your browser, click on 'more info' and the £12 direct debit price should appear.

I did this twice because it was such a bargain and even though I had typed the address in myself, the cashback still tracked both times! £7 for a years subscription is great (I think that's only twice the cost of a single FHM magazine in the shops!) but don't forget to cancel the direct debit before the subscription expires, or you will be charged full price.

Great Magazines also e-mail to give you the chance to create a 'cover star gift card'. You can upload a picture of the gift's recipient or their favourite cover star as the background to an FHM front page, or just use the picture provided. The text can all be personalised, you add a message inside and Great Magazines send it to you or your recipient at no cost.

Hope this helps, I was thrilled with both of my subsriptions and gift cards.
The first issue your recipient will be sent is Febuary's, sent out 02/01/2009.:santa2: Great for an xmas pressie - just give them the cover star gift card on the day!
