Ex-Bankrupt confused about the way forward!

Hi All,
I'm writing on behalf of my girlfriend who was declared bankrupt 3rd May 2007. Since then she has been discharged from her bankrupcy and between the both of us we keep a very healthy pair of individual current and savings accounts.
We went into the bank a few days ago asking for a debit card account for her as she was getting sick of withdrawing money from the cash point (cash point money always gets spent!!!) but to no avail. We were told that the bank could not accept her but could not give a reason. The best they could do was to tell us to check her Experian credit record for outstanding issues. We did this but everything looks hunky dory.
Since then we have tried several banks and non will give her a debit card facility with or without an overdraft. How do we go about getting this facility? If she can not have any sort of responsobility for her money how can she build a new credit rating? Whats the quickest way of getting her back on track?
Please help we're tearing our hair out!
John

To be honest she'll struggle to find a bank that will offer such a service while the bankruptcy stays on her credit files for 6yrs even though she's been discharged since 2007......even more difficult with the financial state of the country with the credit crunch at the min........and if its any help I applied for a similar accounts & been declined & i've been discharged nearly 2yrs...the only thing that helps is time i'm afraid....
a word of caution though too many applications to banks will look bad on her credit files as well....i'd leave it a while & try againWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0 -
Also try the Co-op, they offer their cashminder account to bankrupts so you should be able to get one.
