Hi,
I really enjoy making 'latch hook rugs', takes a while to get one finished but do you think that there could be any money in this?
I recently made one which I had purchased from e-bay as a kit and I then personalised it with a name and gave it as a present.
It really did make a lovely present as it was meaningful.
Any ideas if this sort of thing would work and how to go about it?
Thanks

I think you would end up working for 3p an hour because the amount of time needed to make the rugs.
This tends to be the case with a lot of handmade items.

Not sure if I'm thinking of the right thing, but I saw a telly programme a while back (one of those Lorne Spicer programmes where she helped people sort out their debt - usually by doing a car boot sale - but it wasn't Car Booty)... anyway there was a woman in Middlesbrough who had done what I think was this kind of thing. They were like little shag pile rugs, if you know what I mean, about the size of a doormat, maybe a bit smaller. Anyway they suggested she took them to a craft fair, and present them as artwork, which she did. She sold one for something like £10/£20 but the guy who bought it wanted to pay her much more - not sure if he actually did - I think he may have paid more like £60 because he felt that's what it was worth (or perhaps because the TV cameras were on him!).
I would imagine sales like that are few and far between in the current financial climate, but might be something to look into.0
