go for a petrol strimmer, forget any electric ones if you have a reasonable sized garden. the electric ones just tend to comb the grass instead of cut it. i got a mccullouch (?) strimmer from homebase as it was wrongly priced about 4 years ago, she has never let me down, i had gone through 3 electric strimmers in this time.

  • If the OP is near a Black & Decker 'factory shop' or 'outlet' they regularly have reconditioned Strimmers starting at a tenner - so it's almost not worth changing the string when it runs out......
