Hi Teria,
I put a few drops onto a tissue and put it into the vacuum cleaner when I'm vacuuming the carpets. It leaves a lovely smell in the room.
I've added your post to an earlier thread on using essential oils as it helps to keep all the ideas together.

Lavender is good at reducing scarring from spots and good for burns, blisters and insomnia and operation scars from 3-7 days after (its worth googling it to read up on it)
It's wise to note that tea tree and lavender can be used neat on the skin up to 2 drops and chamomile can be used with caution* its good for calming the skin but only up to one drop. NO OTHERS CAN BE USED IN THIS WAY
1 drop may sound small but it goes a long way
Tea tree can be used for spots, fungal nail infections, verucaa's, blisters, scrapes, operation scars from 3-7 days after to ward off infection on the scar, 2 drops to the hair rubbed in and left overnight will kill off any headlice.0 -
A couple of good books on essential oils and their uses are The Fragrant Pharmacy and The Fragrant Mind, both by Valerie Ann Worwood. The first is using oils to treat various problems and the second is more how to use oils to complement or change your mood (relaxation, alertness, etc.).
The only time I have used the pharmacy one in earnest was when I had a gout attack in my toe. Not kidding, but that was the most pain I had ever felt, childbirth notwithstanding. I followed the treatment for arthritis for about 6 weeks, and (touching wood rapidly here) I've not had another attack since.0 -
My two:
1. A couple of drops in the steam iron water. In true MS-style, I keep mine in an old washing-up liquid bottle. The nozzle makes it easier to pour/squirt into the iron.
2. Some more in a 1 litre sprayer bottle. This can also double as a room spray.
It turns ironing into an aromatherapy session. The only problem is that - being a bloke - I took he usual male line of least resistance and bought lavender, so after a while I get too relaxed to iron any more. :rolleyes:The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
I'm not really into aromatheraphy or massage but I have started using essential oils for odd jobs around the house. When the dishwashers a bit whiffy I shake a couple of drops of Peppermint into it and it smells lovely for days. Also when ever I put a new bin liner in the kitchen or bathroom I put a drop of Lavender in the bag to keep it smelling nice. Any other suggestions?0

I like the dishwasher idea! I put a couple of drops in the iron instead of buying the expensive ironing water. I have heard that if you put a couple of drops on a cloth and wipe your light bulbs, the heat will release the scent and work as well as/better than an air fresher - I haven't tried it though...

I use tea tree oil when I'm cleaning the loos, and also when I'm washing the dishcloths and teatowels.
Next time I change the bin bag I'm going to use lavender oil - what a fantastic idea!0 -
pure rose oil in plain moisturiser for real luxury
lavender or tea tree neat on cuts and burns
Pure rose oil is incredibly expensive, but you can get rose oil that's diluted in a carrier oil.
The use of tea tree oil is restricted to only 1% in cosmetics, so it shouldn't be used neat.0 -
A couple of drops of whatever you fancy on a cotton-wool pad popped into the vacuum-cleaner wafts a pleasant scent around and about. It almost makes up for having to use it.
I have a little stash of various essential oils which I use to make scented candles. They make lovely presents and people think I'm terribly clever. If only they knew how easy it was.....0
