                    Hi Everybody
This is my first posting on a forum so apologies if I am not doing it right! I have a number of debts with credit cards totalling £36,000 and I am dealing with my creditors via payplan. I did inform all those affected prior to starting the process that I was having problems and Payplan have been distributing funds to my creditors according to what I can afford to pay each month. Yesterday I had a rather nasty call from First credit who have bought the debt from Citi Cards. The young lady basically threatened me with home repossesion, bailiffs etc and said they they would not deal with Payplan. I have to admit that I was a bit caught out because I have not yet received any correspondence from them stating that they have bought the debt from Citi Cards. I have asked them to communicate with me in future by mail only as my 10 year old daughter overheard my conversation and was crying last night. I have also received a letter from Link Financial demanding immediate payment. Surely they should know that if i could pay that amount I would have done it by now. Sorry for the rambling thread but i am getting seriously worried for my family. I am paying what I can afford through Payplan and have nothing more to offer at present.
Can anyone offer me some advice or comfort?

Hi There is a letter somewhere on this forum where you write to them and say you will deal with them only in writing and that any further telephone calls will be considered harassment. Don't speak to them, if they ring again say ANY communications must be in writing or you will report them.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I would also put in a request for a true signed copy of the CCA and a notice of a Assignment . This can put you in control , and if they happen to have lost the CCA , it may be unenforceable .0

It's the first standard tactic by companies like 1st Credit or link to demand immediate payment and threaten all sorts of nasty things.
Things like bailiffs need a court order that you have defauleted on. Even if they went for a court order, then it's likely you would be able to pay at about the same rate as their payments would be under the DMP.
The idea of these threats is to pile on as much psychological pressure from the start.
There are people on this board who have PayPlan or CCCS paying 1st Credit (and other similar companies) under a DMP without problems. So their assertion that they won't deal with Payplan is utter twaddle; again designed to put pressure on you.
Get in touch with your Payplan advisor and get them to deal with it, or their help.
They will be very familiar with these creditors playing these mind games. Pleaes don't be too worried. Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

It forgot to mention that there is a support thread for people on DMPs here:

There are plenty of people with both CCCS and Payplan. I'm sure they have seen these types of threats before many times.
