house split into flats, where do i stand to claim?

can anyone help? my flat and two neighbouring flats were once one house i dont know how to check my council tax band? ive been trying to check what band i should be in by trying the tax calculator but it was in band D back in 1991! so where do i stand now?? any help would be greatly valued!

    You will have to find similar properties in your location and check their band to compare.

    You could ring the council and say that you are thinking of buying/renting one of the flats and want to know what the band is.
    Usually when a house is split int o self contained flats then someone from the valuation office visits and allocates a band to each flat.
    In our case, a Band C house split into 3 flats, each flat then became Band A.

    What band are you in, this will be shown on your council tax bill.

  • im in band B but the house was in band D before it was split! so its probably right, but i would still like to be sure!
