DEbt counsellor-TOO BUSY!!!!!!

Hi all again!!

Our debt counsellor who has been very nice, good, informative etc last week cancelled our appointment with her, which should have been tomorrow-therefore we take the plunge ourselves.

I rang Birmingham Court last week and got appointments for us for Aug 26.Am now stressedabout that because of wages, taxcredits payments which should go into bank account on the FRiday blah blah....

Our lady told us to tell creditors who ring that we are going bankrupt and give them the date etc. But we are reading different things on this site. Some people are saying don't tell them.

Can we have more advice please??

Creditors who phoned last week, i told them about our now non-existent appointment tomorrow and to ring back tomorrow afternoon and i would be able to give them more news.

Sorry to witter on,we just need a bit more help from the experts!

Many many thanks

    hi
I followed that advice from my debt counsellor, and apart from Natwest most of the DCA's who rung were ok when I told them I was going bankrupt and the date... but, they would stop ringing for a week then someone else would ring and i'd have to go through it all again, they just don't listen or belive you, not sure which  so in the end i just started to avoid the call and do 1471 to see who had rung. As soon as you have gone bankrupt you can start to answer and give them then ref. number, it's so nice now to be able to answer phone again.

    Hi Jo70
Just my own experience- I wouldnt bother telling them you are petitioning for bankruptcy. They will just try and get what they can while they can.
I personally unplugged the phone and spoke to no one. I found the one creditor I mentioned the B word to called me over and over.
Tell them you are looking at your options- which you are.

  • it depends on who your creditors are, and more to the point the morals of the last person you spoke too, some dont let up even when you have a BR number until the OR contacts them, which sometimes never happens as one department "forgets to tell another"

Some creditors will however up the pressure if you do tell them so the safest bet is dont tell any of them.

If you cant stand the calls either do as sugested and turn of the phone or get your number changed, the later does remove a lot of the stress if you can do it without it causing too much of a problem for you so really is worth it
Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all …………. :(
