Has anyone successfully applied for a PayPal pre-paid card yet. I have tried but keep getting an unsuccessful message as they cant idenitfy me. Call up and it is the website and they are working to fix it. Just tried to apply again as I was told to just keep giving it a go and when you hit apply it goes blank.

I've been trying to sign up since this morning - earlier, when I entered my postcode, the site was saying that it was invalid and was painfully slow to use. Now it seems to be completely offline.. :lipsrseal

I thought Cashplus was the most popular one.

  • Well, the PayPal topup card site is back online now and pretty speedy but whenever I try and apply, I get this:
Sorry, your application has not been successful
There are two reasons why an application may not be accepted. The first reason is that you may already have the maximum allowed number of PayPal Top Up Cards. The second reason is that we use a wide range of robust data sources to validate personal details. On this occasion we may not have been able to validate your personal details sufficiently to enable your application to proceed.

I'm using the same details from my verified PayPal account.. and I don't have any existing cards with them

And i was hoping as soon as I get my paypal account verified which should be tomorrow it would work. Seems not. They have said they are working on it and it is a problem with the website not with anyones identity. I thought it odd to begin with when I found the card is backed by RBS as I have a Natwest Current Acc and Credit Card so surely that would be enough in itself to identify me.

Although there is no 'credit' check, there is an identity check. How long have you been at your address, are any utilities in your name, are you registered to vote etc. You wouldn't need all these things but at least some ie, I'm not registered to vote and I still got a card. My card is the cashplus and can be found at www.mycashplus.co.uk

  • Thanks for that fiveyearplan.

I was worried I wouldn't be able to apply for one as I am not on the electoral roll and the bills come in dh's name. The only thing in my name as proof of address is Bank Statements (but have sent all those into OR) and WTC award notification. I am hoping to get my co op cashminder account details through soon so could maybe use that. Is that enough for an ID check??

    Thanks
    Emma
