Very cheap DVD Recorders at Asda in Cumbernauld

Asda (Cumbernauld only) are selling their Cyberhome and Pye DVD Recorders for an absolute steal at £59.94. I got a Pye (because it's got a RGB-in and RGB-out), but the Cyberhome is a smaller unit and has a front DVI and I think plays DivX's. Got the Pye to the till and it came up at £85 but the correct price is £54.94, as per their advert in the Evening Times. Still plenty left last night, although at that point the prices weren't on the shelves.

Guys, it would be interesting if you could give as an update on these DVD recorders after a few weeks of usage. Do they work as expected, is the picture and sound quality good, is the sound and vision dubbing reliable (some cheapies are out of sync).

Pye is made by Phillips (or at least used to be) and considering our Pye TV is now 20 years old and hasn't given us a day of rouble in its life I would have no problem with that brand however I know nothing about cyberhome

  • Ivan, I know in the past on MSE there are many people who wouldn't touch Cyberhome icon12.gif

Sorry I don't know why or what.

I bought a dvd from Richer sounds about 13 months ago. Went by their advice and paid out £220. However 1 month after the guarantee expired the lazer head went.
Cost for repair £260.00. I wish now I had gone for one of the cheapies.
Also I should have taken out their extended warranty at £20.00, so I am totally to blame.
