Is it safe to refreeze once frozen meat?

Hello everyone.
I'm not sure what to do about this mince.
I bought Marks & Spencer best fresh steak mince and froze it until I wanted to use it. I have now defrosted it (in the fridge overnight) and made shepherd's pie.
Now I want to freeze an extra shepherd's pie and I'm not sure if it will be safe to do this.
The meat is cooked and pie made with the potato on it.
Will it be safe to put in the freezer again?
Thanks for your advice.

Yes it's fine. You can freeze it once while raw and once while cooked.

Hi Maisie
THIS GUIDE to freezers and freezing should help you find the information you require.
There is also one in the mega index, go to cooking and recipes, then look for the "freezing" section. The mega index is at the top of the OS board!

Possibly a silly question, but I don't know and a search didn't find the answer!!
If I cook meat from the freezer, is it safe to freeze the cooked meal?
Thinking of using some chopped beef I have in the freezer to make a stew type thing in the slow cooker. Just not sure whether to make enough for one day, or make several portions and freeze some.
(of course this would be a first try with the slow cooker, so it might be more sensible to see how it comes out before thinking about batch cooking)0 -

Yes you can. Rule is - raw meat - freeze - thaw - cook - freeze - thaw.
I do this all the time, as cooking bigger batches takes hardly any more time than small ones, then there's a HM meal in the freezer for my busy days.

Thanks!
That would also answer the other question I didn't ask, whether to thaw first or not. I'll put it in the fridge to defrost first.
Now I just need to go through the slow cooker thread for a recipe
