Hsbc

Hi again

Another question about hsbc.... (thank you by the way to those who answered earlier for me)

My dmp is paying out to my creditors and all are willing to accept except HSBC (they take the monthly payments though!).

HSBC said they'll give me 3 months grace to sort myself out (wich wont be sorted in 3 months) and then they'll refer and take matters further

Does this mean a debt collector and if so arent these people easier to deal with than the credditors themselves does anyone know?

Thanks

    Hi Flounder,

I've had many dealings with HSBC. They use their own internal debt collection agency - Metropolitan - and to be honest they are pretty stiff to say the least. I managed, in the end, after 4 months of HARD negotiation to get them to accept a F&F Settlement. A word to the wise - never talk to them on the telephone - keep everything in writing - that way there is a paper trail and from what others have said here, there is no intimidation into forcing you into making payment offers that you can not afford.

Now Metropolitan -they will and do send threatening letters etc but most are computer generated.

I suggest that you send further letters, recorded delivery, asking them to reconsider your offer, they can't have what you don't have (terrible grammer).

    Good luck xx

  • hi flounder,i second what runnybabbit says! metropolitan are a pain in the a**e!! i am currently dealing withing them at the moment as i refused to accept hsbc's kind offer of a secured loan to help my debt problems  (thats a whole other story!). metropolitan have sent me roughly 3 letters per week since they took over the debt a month ago!so be prepared for that! and DO NOT call them, i made that mistake as they sent a letter saying cccs hadn't sent them any money (they had!), the women was vile, rude and an absolute b***h!! (sorry!) so do not call them do everything in writing.

    Hi again,

Try, try and get HSBC on side as opposed to Metropolitan, I can tell you now, they won't accept anything less than 90% for a F&F settlement (I know from experience as I'm just going through the motions with them now), yet HSBC accepted 50% for a F&F!!!!!.

Just keep a strong, solid papertrail going, send a token £1 payment, that way they know you are not ignoring the situation at all, and hopefully might take things a little easier with you - hopefully xx

Pinkladez - that's terrible - had the same response today from a right cow in the garden centre - sorry for the digressing ;)
