There are also a few more avatar sites mentioned here, though personally I think that if you want an avatar of some sort you're likely to get better results by expanding your search to include online image galleries. After all, any image file can potentially be used as an avatar with a little judicious editing.

You could even try making your own if you've got access to a digital camera, scanner and/or image editing software.
