Free Gig at The Royal Albert Hall on September 26th - But You've Got To Give A Little

Hello All
As the title says, you can get yourself a free ticket for what is billed as the hottest gig of 2008 at the Royal Albert Hall on Friday September 26th.
To bag yourself one of these free tickets, all you have to do is volunteer just 4 hours of your time at a local community event run by Orange RockCorps. Essentially, it's about giving a little something back to your local community by transforming/rebuilding a project in your area.
Once you've had a little look at the site, you can sign up using a really simple registration form, and then choose a project that appeals to you. There's a freephone number that you then need to call to confirm your space on the project and then you're all set. You'll get your ticket to the concert at the end of your volunteering session, and I've also been told that I'll get a t-shirt to wear on the day!
So far, they've confirmed Busta Rhymes as performing, but many more artists and performers/performances will be added to this line up in the coming weeks.
The events (subject to availability) are mainly based in the North, East and South East of London.
It's open to everyone aged 16 and over, although 16-18 year olds will have to have a work waiver signed by their parents. I will be encouraging my God-Daughter to volunteer at one of the projects with some of her friends, and I'm sure the concert tickets will be a good incentive!
I think this is a great way for people who have always wanted to do some voluntary community work in their area to get involved - altruistic reasons in this instance or otherwise!!
Sorry for the long post. I'm off to sort out my hayfever tablets for Sunday. Lol.

Well I've just come back and I had a great time. It was hard work but everyone was in good spirits. We were fed and watered and entertained and of course I got a free ticket to the gig! :j As we were the first group we've got great seats right at the front too. I may not be able to make it to the gig after all, but not too bothered about that as I really enjoyed myself. It was brilliant seeing the before and after of all the work we did. This is why I love volunteering. BBC, Channel 4 and ITV were all there covering it and it will also be featured on T4 who are one of the sponsors. They had a piece on BBC Breakfast featuring some volunteers this morning and there should be more about it throughout the day on local news broadcasts. If your photograph gets chosen as one of the best from your day of volunteering, all group members will also win a brand new Sony Ericsson mobile phone.
I highly suspect that these tickets will be much sought after when the word gets around. Thoroughly recommended! :TOGB - Queen of Bling baby...:A0 -

Hey all,
Just a heads up about Rock Corps - they're a company - not a charity or
not-for profit organization, and their privacy statement and terms and
conditions give them a lot of freedom to sell and pass on the private
info of anyone who signs up. So check you're comfortable with the small
print before you sign up or tell any of your friends about it:
