Remortgage chaos - Solicitor trouble(help!)

Just completed a remortage on my flat. Basically to cut a long story short, there was a delay in my new lender sending the full amount to old lender, so I got charged £250 interest. This delay was (probably) because my solicitor (I’m in Scotland) sent the certificate of undertaking to my new lender late although they claim they sent one before that, but my new lender didn’t receive it and the solicitor doesn’t seem to have any proof that they sent it. The way the woman (at the solicitors) on the other end of the phone was speaking to me was as if it wasn’t a big deal and there wasn’t much I could do about it because they are a big chain of solicitors. Basically I have had to pay £250 just because someone may (or may not) faxed a piece of paper.

Is there anything I can do about it?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Fight (of course with in the boundaries of decency) with the Solicitors - if they do not agree to foot the £250 - then say it is their fault that they are unable to show the proof for sending your docs earlier. At the end of it try to make them understand - 250 might not be huge for them - but it clearly affects your lively hood - crib crib - squeaky wheel gets the grease. If all things fail - ask them to foot half of the amount at least.

Other legal ways of doing this would be more detrimental to you in terms of money - as they are already solicitors and dont have to pay legal fees - sorry.
Recession - if you are forced to drink beer at your home.
Depression - if you have no beer to drink at all!
I don't see any of the above - so where is it (recession)?

there will be a complaints procedure in the paperwork the solicitor sent to you, follow it to the letter, keeping copies of letters and send everything by recorded delivery.
    Happily an ex mortgage broker!

I going to write them a letter complaining, i have a strong suspicion that the women at the solicitors was maybe 'bending the truth' a little when she spoke to me but i am a bit scared to say this in case it gets me in trouble.

    Thanks again.
