New Mortgage advice needed please!

Can anyone shed any light on a problem i've recently had with my mortgage please?

I've just bought my new house and completed my mortgage etc on June 30th. I recieved no paperwork from either my Mortgage Lender or Mortgage Advisor regarding the completion, and i set my DD for the first of the month.
The lender then tried to take a payment half way through July without telling me, and it subsequently failed as i didn't have enough to cover it.
I've been charged by both my bank and my lender, and as its now august the 1st, i've paid another mortgage payment. This means i've paid close to £1500 in a week!

Can the lender take 2 mortgage payments so close together?

Can i claim my charges back?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Your broker and in some cases should have told about the "initial payment". This is what has currently happened to you.

In most cases if you complete after the 15th of the month you may have to pay 1.5 times the next month...................again different each lender will be different.

As for claiming these charges back. Don't try the lender as somewhere in all this they would have told you about the inital payment. I have to admit though if you can't be bothered (and lots of people don't so don't worry) to find out about the first payment you should have been told by someone.
    I am a Mortgage Adviser

  • Ok, thanks for that!

I had asked about payments and was told it would be explained in the completion letter that i never recieved. And as i'd set the Direct Debit for the 1st, it seemed reasonable that the first payment would be taken then, 30 days after completion.

    Thanks for the info though.
