    Nonsense

If i buy a 3 piece suite from Harveys and they charge me £70 delivery , i will still buy the 3 piece suit but `ill be damned if i`m going to LIKE the delivery charge

Fine, but don't complain about it afterwards. If you're not happy with it, then go some where else, where you are happier with their charges.

If you buy something and it wasn't as described or sub standard, then you have every right to be unhappy. But when it is clearly displayed before you purchase and you have that knowledge in the decision making process, then you either accept the charge and live with it or you do not proceed with the purchase.

    It`s not rocket science mate:D

It is possible to live with it AND give appropriate DSR ratings ;)

The possitive feedback I left was:

Perfect item, great value!! Good comms. Speedy but a little high postage.

I think it's a bit over the top to mention it in the feedback. I mean, if you really feel strongly about it, there's nothing stopping you from negging their !!!!!

Seriously though, I would just mark them down on the p+p DSR and walk away. I don't think you need to point out if the p+p charge is high, since it doesn't take long on e**y for newcomers to realise more often than not you are getting fleeced on the p+p.

I don't agree that if you don't like the p+p charge, you shouldn't buy. Sometimes there is only one person selling the item you want, so you can't go elsewhere.

I had a great one 3 weeks ago.
Wanted to buy 4 items of a powerseller with 3000+ feedback contacted him beforehand about combined shipping costs and wether I could get them sent via special delivery at my expense (I fibbed and said there had been problems with the postal service in my area recently).
    No reply.

Won all 4 auctions for about £90 total (I imagine he would have been expecting £20 total if he was lucky).

Again contacted the seller twice asking if I could get them sent via special delivery.
    No reply

Eventually gave up and just paid him with £16 for delivery (4 x £4) hoping he would have the sense to use special or at least recorded.

Anyway turned up this morning 15 days after I paid (sent 1st class, no recorded, £8.22 postage) wrapped up in a piece of brown paper that had been ripped and torn during transit.

In theory I could put in a paypal claim for non reciept if I was that way inclined.... which I'm not, not least because I sold the 4 items this afternoon for £1400 ;)

Now wonder how I'm gonna rate him on the DSR's

Well if I shoulnd't mention the ott postal, then should I leave out how good the sellers comms were or how pleased I am with the items.

The idea of feedback is to relate back to the seller and others what your buying experience was.

So I was honest. I loved the item, their communication was good, they posted very fast and the postal price was a bit ott.

There's nothing wrong with mentioning that the P&P was a bit high in your feedback comments. The OP didn't complain about them, they simply noted that they were a tad high.

The seller is the one who knew how much the item would cost to post and that they would send it in a taped up carrier bag. So I don't see how they can complain when this is reflected in their feedback. If they don't like it, they should lower their P&P charges, use better packaging in future, or go sell someplace else.

And I wasn't the first person to mention their P&P charges in a feedback comment either...

As you did not know what their packaging etc would be like you would not necessarily know before receiving the item if postage was too much. I have bought items and thought postage a bit high but items arrived packaged very well and in good mailing sacks which obviously costs more than just shoved in a plactic bag. Also some things I thought would be light and only a quid or so to post have actually cost a fair bit more. Sometimes it is very obvious before buying but often you dont know if you've been ripped off until you see the postage charge (overseas orders are often like this).

Isn't it wonderful how ebay has managed to put a spin on fee evasion so that we are all trying to stop it on their behalf?

Once upon a time, you added the cost of the item and it's postage together, then decided if the price was good enough to go ahead and buy.
Now everyone wants the postal charges down. The seller's postage costs are still there and have to be got back from somewhere.
The only place is the price, so it goes up, consequently so do ebay's fees. Which have to be got back from somewhere. The only place is the price, so it goes up, consequently so do ebay's fees.....
