Spring Onions - how do you shred them??

My recipe calls for me to shred spring onions. Like when you have crispy duck.
I tried the same dish a few weeks back and found it really tricky and mine were nowhere near fine enough. Anyone know a good way of doing it?

did you cut them in half lengthways first? that way they won't roll as you try to cut and you'll have more control in getting finer strips. Also might be worth sharpening your knife (but mind your fingers!)weaving through the chaos...0

Yes, cut them in half and sharpened my knife, used the tip of it which was sharpest bit. Problem was that as I started cutting, the smaller inside bits kept coming out.
I expect it is probably something to do with the fact that my knife sharpener isn't that great and my knife needs to be sharper. Plus I'm a bit cack handed :rotfl:0 -
sorry for stating the obvious then PP
I can totally relate to being cack handed (and have the scars to prove it) :rotfl:
let's hope you get some more suggestions that I can benefit from too!weaving through the chaos...0
