A tribute to one of the people who got me through my bankruptcy : (

Maybe not the place to write this but I will anyway. I have always had lots of praise for my local Citizens Advice in Workington and I have said before how much support I got for well over a year from a man called Clive Johnston. He sorted out all my Token Payments for a year and then after seeing how ill everything was making me suggested Bankruptcy. That day I left the office and came to this site for some more advice and then went back to Clive who sorted everything out for me. It was with deep sadness that I found out he had passed away last week, died suddenly in his 50's. When I first met Clive at the CAB office I was petrified of what would happen and he was always straight to the point and would always put things into perspective for me. He'd take my calls when I was panicking and contact my creditors to tell them off for pestering me after he had wrote to them. He sorted out all of my forms and told me off for panicking, in a nice way. He helped me get my life back on track, with the help from this forum too, and now his life has ended. I will forever be grateful to this man, Clive Johnston. God bless

I was sorry to hear of the death of such a helpful and able person although I don't know him in any way. I would add that I have had masses of assistance from the CAB so know what a relief it is to have someone to advise and help face to face. Clive sounds a wonderful and dedicated human being.Bankrupt 11th June 2008

Hiya cazjenki :A
What a lovely tribute to Clive! And how sad to hear that he has died - and so young!
Nothing can make bereavement go away, but tributes like yours can ease the pain a little - well, I've found that anyway. I do hope that Clive's family get to know of these tributes, and know how much he was loved and appreciated.

Hi Cazjenki,
Can I pass on my sympathies to Clives family...who will probably never read this but its good to know that there are people in this world who are real samaritans & who never get the credit for their kindness!!! Sounds like he was one of them.
A lesson here for us all is that the smallest gesture of help often means the most to someone who is in despair....for whatever reason.
Thanks for posting Caz....

It's such a sad loss when the good ones go.

How about you put that in a little card and take it to your CAB office to pass onto clive's family. I am sure they will find comfort in the fact that someone he has helped as bothered to to take the time to thank him for the work he did. Yes I think I will do that today. I had only been thinking the other day that when I get my discharge I would go in and see him and thank him personally for everything and now its too late, why does that happen eh, it makes you realise doesn't it.0

Sounds like he was one of the good guys.
()We used the CAB and were also lucky to get a great advisor, name of Lisa.
I don`t expect he will have too much trouble getting past St Peter.
May he rest in peace. :beer:1/11/06 -1/06/07 BSC #42

Your right Nomis he will indeed be a great miss to the community, after reading his obituary in the local paper I could not believe the amount of things Clive was involved in Cockermouth Mountain Rescue etc, I have no idea how he found the time to fit it all in.0
