I know it would be better him putting the cash in a savings account, ISA's etc and would make more money over the next few years but I guess he is really keen for this. The other thing i would be most worried is losing his job. I know there will be further pay offs after Christmas. Things are not picking up and the signs are all not looking good. We know people quite high up in construction and they are definitely getting worried. The country is going to see more builders go bust.0

thrftybabe....how are you doing in your company have you had to lay off yet..good luckIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
geoffky thanks for asking. We are doing fine so far. Albeit one of the contractors came back to us and asked us to reduce our rates again! We have done so to keep the work. The only thing is we have apprentices and their time is out in a few weeks. TBH I think it makes good sense for the company to pay them off as they do not make the Company money. Even though they will be fully qualified they are slower and obviously not experienced as other Subcontractors. My OH is finding this part very difficult whereas I feel if we reduce at least 2 of our staff numbers at the moment it will be better long term.
How are you doing?0
