Exactly.

Statute of Limitations or not; you owe it, you should pay it.
If the law states that he does not owe it then why should he pay it? How anyone can have a go at this guy for trying to act within the law is beyond me.
If the law states that he can park outside his house and then he got a parking ticket would you suggest that he pays that too?On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -
It was due to a diorvce that I had to write a few cheques, there realy was no one else to turn to. I never did this easily. I offered to pay back what I could afford per week. They could see what my income was going to be as the child support payments were made direct into the bank. They wanted double what I had comming in.
I offered several times to pay a little each week, so did the CAB who took on my case, but the Abbey would not meet me half way. So it was either food, clothes and tea towels, plates or give the Abbey what I never had.
In the end, I admit, I thought, Fu*K you. and never replied to thier letters. I got the black mark on my file and suffered for it over the 6 years that it remained on my file.
So, is the six years from the date of default or the date of my last letter to them?
Oh and Im not on the voters role as I dont want my ex finding me.Sarah x0 -
I think it's date of last contact, which would be the last letter you wrote them.
I understand now why you're not on the electoral roll - a friend is in a similar situation; her ex is mentally ill and isn't allowed to know where she lives although he has access to their son. Nightmare situation and very stressful.
When did you write to Abbey?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

I have not written to the Abbey in about 5 years. But I have never written to the agency. I do know that the person at my original address returnt thier letters, marked No Longer at this address. I guess the last one of those would be about 3.5 years ago. I have never written to them, or called to them.
I tried my best with the Abbey, we banked with them as they were the best bank for squaddies at the time.
As for my ex, he was viloent after coming back from overseas with the Army.Sarah x0 -
If your last letter to them was within six years, then I think they can legally chase the debt and require it to be paid. Not really sure what you shoudl do, but I hope other people will advise...:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

He still owes it and should pay it.
Why? If the creditor can't get their act together in 6 years, tough. Debt isn't about 'morals', it's about the LAW.0 -
I got a very similar letter about a Barclays account I had years and years ago. I haven't a clue if I owed the money (coz I know at the time I wasn't exactly flush) but I sent off the 'Statute Barred' letter.
I got a very quick response back saying that they wouldn't be back in touch.0 -
