  • I've seen that someone earlier mentioned Bio Oil... Definitely worth a try if the patches don't work....

And as for being embarassed to take off your top. Please don't be :) These are just your warwounds which have shown that you've led an interesting life!! Every scar tells a tale! Every lump and bump tells a tale... Or at least this is what I'm sticking with... too many odd colour patches (damn vitiligo!!!! ) odd marks (thanks acne!) and odd lumps (thanks to being bitten by a horse!!) Be proud of your body... and to be honest... people are so concerned about their own bodies.. the chances are.. they won't be looking all that closely at yours ;)

  • I suffer with a skin condition called Keloid scarring. This means that my skin does not know when to stop healing and therefore carries on growing. My back is covered with scars from acne when I was younger and I also have a big scar which was operated on and I then had radium treatment the day after the operation. I have used all the potions, lotions, gels and injections over the years and have found that they do make the scars softer and can reduce the colour of them if you continue to use them on a regular basis. Dermatix silicone sheet clear works the best for myself as the scars are older than two years and very raised and are constantly itchy and painful. This sheet does seem to take away some discomfort. The gel is ok but it takes a while to dry and I find it makes my clothes stick to my scars! So its ok to use if you have time to sit and let it soak in but not if your in a hurry. I used to be very ashamed of my scars but recently have decided that I should not be ashamed and there are worse things to suffer with than scars! Keep going with the gels and they will work but you will not see results overnight, and if you have severe scars like mine you may never see the results you would like but you may find they take away some of the pain!

I used Bio Oil on a burn on my wrist and it's blended in really well.

I recently had to have a lump removed from my forehead (doctor and hospital didn't know what it was but may have been a cyst). I am rubbing in Bio Oil into the scar twice a day and it seems to be taking the redness down nicely.

I've tried the scar reduction pads and I'd say they work at the same rate as massaging in bio oil daily. I found the patches expensive and hard to deal with keeping on in place for so long (I have an appendix scar and at the time did alot of yoga). I had my scar for 3 years when I started using the patches and did notice a difference. But again, the same rate as Bio oil which I began using 7 years after the scar was created.
