Capital One, something wrong?

Hi all,
Told you I would be back!
I had a credit card with capital one. I defaulted on this for reasons explained in my last post. I was was the pursued for the debt by Robinson Way (debt collectors). I agreed a 75% "full and final settlement".
Imagine my despair when I read my credit file and saw that they still had me down as owing them money. I called them and they explained to me that I have only agreed a partial settlement and although they would not pursue the debt they will leave it on file. I called Robinson Way and they agreed that I have paid a FULL AND FINAL.
Capital one is refusing to remove this even though I have it writing that I paid a full and final. I have sent this off to them with joy. Please help!

Is this on your experian / equifax credit file? Could you write to them direct with copies of your Cap one documents and argue for the removal of the entry?0

I think that this is something that capital one have to remove. I do not believe that this is something I could get rid off like this? Then again it could be worth a try...0

I'm not sure exactly how it works but I thought that if one of the credit reference agencies had stuff on your file that shouldn't be there, the thing to do is to let them know directly. This is normally in respect of erroneous entries (eg someone who is not related to you but has similar name, previous tenants of your house etc) - I don't know if the rule is the same for things like this.
I'd be interested to know as well, might be looking at full and final settlements on some of our debts at some point.0
