  • hi Karen

I was thinking that as well but not so expensive!!! I thought maybe 15 minutes for that much money!!! Perhaps I wont end up making any money after all!!! lol
  • my friend runs an entertainment company and hires out bouncy castles. Over the past few years there has been a sharp rise in the number of people hiring out castles and the increased competition has resulted in a general lowering of prices to what is now a fairly unrealistic level. By the time you have paid for your fuel , advertising, insurance, wear and tear there is not a lot left to pay yourself and dont forget you will have to pay tax on your earnings ! The inland revenue often pick on companies advertising services like bouncy castles to check up that tax is being paid from that business.
It is a physically hard job and in my opinion one whose income has already been hit by the credit crunch, don't expect to make a lot of money from bouncy castles.

Check out your competition in the yellow pages, make sure you understand what will be required of you, understand that you will have to spend money marketing your business, do all your sums and if you decide to go ahead, good luck to you.

    Bouncy Castle hire.

I have done Disco's for around 15 years and wanted to add another string to my bow... So... I went down the route of Bouncy Castle Hiring...

Last year I bought myself a Bouncy Castle which was like new from Ebay... It cost me £600.00 its a 12x12 castle and it is like new.

Insurance for liability cost me a total of £130.00 that is for £1 million of cover.

    Bookings...

I have found that the booking have been quite slow to date due to the pre amount of others coming up with what they think to be a quick money making business.... ITS NOT!

I charge around £50-65 per days hire and extra for a generator.

I have lots of enquiries, but bookings are few and far between... I attend carnivals and fetes but still the money is not amazing...

Asd an example I had a call today to find out that a company 10 mins from me is charging £70 for a days hire for 2 Castles, I cannot compete with these prices..!

    Remember...

    Fuel
    Insurance
    Tax (inland revenue)
and all the other bits and bobs that come with it..
    I.E flyers (cost me £59 for 5000)
adverts in local paper and of course your time...

It is not the easy way of making money that is something to be remebered!!!

It is hard work, with low income at the end of it... Competition in most areas is very high and many people are hiring castles out and all are trying to undercut you!! Its a dog eat dog business!

Do it, but dont expect to get rich quick!

I think you should omit the word "quick" from your post!
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
