12+2

I have been reading alot on this forum, and I have to say its been a fantastic help.

Just one little thing if someone would care to clear it up for me since I cant seem to actually find the answer.

I cant quite work out why its 12 days + 2? is the 2 days for postage?

What exactly is 12+2 days for a CCA letter?

I have sent a CCA request today (30 July) so is it now 14 days from today? Or is it 14 working days from today?

Thanks in advance,
Bazza

The 2 days are for postage, and then 12 working days on, which takes you to the time they have to supply the CCA in. Then they have a calendar month before they are in criminal default, after which time they are commiting a criminal offence if they try to enforce the debt.

Did you make sure to send via recorded and to not sign anything with your usual signature?

    I sent recorded delivery.

I sent a postal order for one pound.

I did not put my signature on any letter.

All as I read one this forum.

So I have 2 days postage - does that include today? or do I start tomorrow? The post office (since I sent first class) ensured that they would recieve tomorrow morning. So do they have 12 working days from tomorrow? (or should I say 12 working days from the day they signed for the letter)?

This is why the 12+2 is confusing me (some would say thats simple enough anyway). ;-)

So can I assume its 12 days from the day they sign for it?

I do 12 days from the date they signed for it, but it needs to be working days. I print a 2nd copy of the letter and attach your portion of the recorded delivery sticker and I also print out a copy of the signature to show it was signed for, staple together and pop in a file. Very important to keep it all together and safe.

I have got 2nd copy of letter and receipt of sending registered letter.

Good tip about printing off who signed etc - I assume this can be done from post office website. But yes I will print that off once they have it and file it all.

Then I shall see if the phone calls stop and I get a response by 12 working days.

I will probably be back if they send something since I will probably need to know if its genuine or not.

    Again thanks
