Won't print web pages, prints everything else

Lexmark printer, Internet Explorer 7.
Both reinstalled tonight to no avail.

A print procedure will print the page header and footer, but won't print any of the content of the web page
google, yahoo, bbc, nothing.

I do note that the printer page footer gives a temporary page, along the lines of :
file:://c:docume~1\pat~1\local~1\Temp\nt4942b4.htm

and not http://www.google.co.uk

anybody any ideas why i'm being rerouted...

I'd try printing from firefox to try and isolate your problem. If you don't want to install firefox then you can get a non-installation version from http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable.
