O2 broadband fed up waiting should I take the Talk Talk offer as its cheap

Some advice please, how bad is talk talk now? I am tempted by the price but have some experience of them years ago and the service was very bad. I have been waiting for the O2 unbundled service in NI but they constantly move the date that it will become available, currently the 31/08/08. I am currently out of contract with Madasafish and have my MAC code ready to move:confused:

Ive been using talktalk for a year now and cant say a bad thing about them, only had to call customer services once, because I had been messing with settings for an email address, and managed to mess up, they sorted it out. I dont use broadband for downloading, only email, internet browsing.

if you switch soon, poss by tomorrow at latest, you get £100 cashback with quidco so works out at £13 a month I think. Wish my BT contract was up!

On the other hand I had a nightmare with Talk Talk about 2 years ago, was going to dip my feet back in the water because of that Quidco deal but I just read too many bad reports on problems and customer service so I chickened out and renegotiated with BT - got line rental 10gb limit broadband evening weekend calls for £22.50 month

good luck if you do go Talk Talk, I'd be interested to know how you get on for when my BT contract runs out

You can switch to O2 and get their "Access" service until unbundling is complete on your exchange. The price for the Access service is still very good for a non-LLU service and O2 will switch you over as soon as unbundled is ready.
It is exactly for reasons such as your scenario why BT are dragging their heels completing the work to bring the LLU serivces in. It's entirely out of O2's hands and they are at the mercy of BT.
Get one back on them by switching to O2 anyway and just put up with a short wait to get your super-fast and cheap LLU service.
That's what I have done and I'm more than happy with the O2 service so far.

Cheers folks will probably go with O2 some one told me that there is a hidden cost that when you leave talk talk you have to pay BT £130 to get reconnected so that just about sealed it for me
  • labhras, that reconnection charge does not apply as long as you get BT to take the line back before your Talk Talk discontinues. I left Talk Talk's service without charge. I moved to Talk Talk for their faster speed at my exchange and would recommend it. I only left due to my work VPN not working on it. Even the voice quality of my phonecalls got better.

Can't say a bad word about TalkTalk, more than I can say for BT - my bill is 50% lower now than it was, as is my parent's cos they switched after seeing my success with them. I know a lot of people had problems with them in the first few years but I think those were maybe teething problems IMHO.

My brother uses one of those 3G dongle thingies and says they're fantastic too - dunno what they are like in N though (he lives in London).
Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"
