1st time leg hair remover for teenager - which one best?

A teenager wants to get rid of her fine blonde leg hairs as she is being teased. They aren't thick.
I don't want her to shave and she doesn't want to wax! Is there a good cream/mousse and if so which is the best? And where can I get it cheaper?

i sometimes use the veet in shower cream but its not cheap!!! If she could try a little bit of waxing it will be better for her in the long run.

Are you against an electric shaver too, I think theyre a bit gentler than blades. I'm not very good at the creams etc, tried them when I was a teenager, put some nair on my armpits ( I know now not to) it burnt, I had scabby pits for weeks. Boots expert stuff is supposed to be good and they have a few offers on at the moment.

I always thought shaving was too short term and stubble was a bit coarse. She'd be very nervous too - even electric. She won't entertain wax, any type of pain is a no, no for her. She does use cream for underarms and it works well, but it's very expensive for 2 x 30" legs!!
I'll need to check around, thanks for the heads up on boots.
  • Both my girls are using blades and they are managing fine, they take their time and do it in the shower with plenty of shaving gel, seems easier than the creams as these if they miss a bit or don't leave it long enough they have patches, with the razor they can go back and re do the problem areas.

If the hair is fine and blond - Silky mitts. Just slip them over the hand and use circular movements and "rub" the hair away. They do work (even on my thick course hair) , are cheap, and can even be used while sat watching tv.

    Just dont rub too hard.

Waxing wont hurt, well no way as much as she thinks it might and its also a nice treat for a teen to pop off to the beauticians. At that age I used bic razors and cut my ankles to pieces many times till I got myself an electric razor (the wet ones are good - better then the dry ones imo)

Superdrugs do those little Nair sachets for about £1, sometimes less if they're on offer. Depending on how often she needs to de-hair her legs it might be a reasonably cheap way of doing it?

ETA sorry, just read the bit about someone getting horribly sore armpits using it! I have really fair skin and I use it on my legs and find it alright. (Haven't tried it on the underarms.) Maybe just do a tiny test patch first?

The same happened to me! :(

Do you not want her to shave incase she cuts her self?
The new gillette razors are fantastic and they have alot of "safety features"

Thanks for your help everyone, we're off to the shops Saturday and we'll take a look. She uses veet for her armpits and hasn't had a problem.

Glad it wasn't just me felt like a right idiot, although to be fair to all current depilatory products it was about 25 years ago (blimey I must be ancient:eek: ) , I think I left it on too long and I've never dared try it again.
What about an epilator I think the pain thing decreases with using them and if her hair is fine it might not be too bad. Maybe someone better could advise.

I think the Intuition razor is good- simple to use, no faffing about with shaving foam/gel because it has a soap thingie on it already and very simple-no cuts or grazes to worry about. It lasts for ages and only takes 5 mins for both legs while you shower or bath. They have a pink version now which is aloe vera and a fragrance free version too-both are good but the pink leaves legs a lot softer. It's usually over £5.50 but you may be able to find it on offer in wilko at halfprice -It's currently on offer in boots too.
I find depiliatories and creams messy and a nuisance because you have to wait for the recommended time etc and the results don't last long either.
