shame on these 2 vultures. I wouldn't like to be in their shoes on judgement day.Krusty & Phil Madoff, 1990 - 2007:

Does anyone know if their is a bubble in horse prices as well?
I heard that they weren't so lucky with their choice of racehorses:D
I saw a programme last year in which Fergus said the housing market would not crash and that he was looking to buy more houses at auction. Then he added that they would sell their portfolio for 250m:D
5 years ago, an EA in Folkestone told me that the Wilson's also "owned half of Hawkinge" too. Hawkinge use to be a 1 shop area, with a cricket club, a rough council estate, an incinerator, a council dump, a crematorium (mercury fallout from fillings) and an airfield. They built on the airfield.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Tax losses..not suggesting its the case here, no idea-nver heard of these people before, but often race horses are used as tax losses. Owners get passes to the 'prestige' areas of the meets their horses are running in too....so lots of people run not so good horses as a ticket to socialise and as tax losses and to talk about what 'their trainer' said0 -
They could singlehandedly take out a bank if they default.
Who is their lender... bet that lender isn't sleeping well.0 -
Gotta be Bradfrod and Bingley. No wonder their share price went down the swanee0

race horses are very very very expensive to keep lowest you will get away with is 20k a years fees and then there is cost a low grade decent one is 50k plus.and theirs are a lot higher grade than that...It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
With 875 buy to let properties there are bound to be disputes about deposits and damage. To what extent does the BBC story just arise because so many homes are owned by the same landlord(s)?
I got into a dispute the only time I rented, and the landlady was very nice - her partner was a bishop!
They're running it as a business, not a charity, however much envy and schadenfreude we may all like to feel
Overall, I see that are untypical because they will have made pots of money from the early 1990s and have also gained their expertise in that period - well in advance of today's buy-to-let crowd.0 -
I wonder if the Russian offers still hold?
I think that Mr. Wilson considers himself a 'pundit' on house prices, but I suspect that he is wrong.
Flats are becoming a disaster area for price drops, but here in Crawley - similar sort of place to Ashford - the price of 2 bed houses has fallen by more than £5k. On £150,000 8% is more than £5,000.
I would also think that a whole estate of buy to let houses is going to bring the prices down anyway.
I also noticed that Mr. W. was pretty breathless as he spoke - so he has either just run up the stairs - or his health is not good!0 -

Good analogy with Crawley. I guess Ashford will show us what Crawley would be like if BAA shut Gatwick!0 -

If you DO ever choose to run a race horse on a budget I know a few trainers who charge significantly less than that. Your horse is more likely to run at Bath or Lingfield than ascott or good wood, but it can be done.;)0
