in Cutting tax
Just a quick question, sometimes I am payed a small amout of money for doing different jobs for people, but small amount i am talking £10. But this doesn't happen very often, normally only a few times a year.
Would I have to tell the tax office about these monies coming in. I am currently a 20% tax payer. Or since they are such small amount they wouldn't be bothered about it.
Thanks

Please bear in mind that in forums like this those of us who claim to know a bit about tax often have to make judgements based on what people say without knowing the facts.
In the linked thread Henry says he does a bit of gardening for friends and neighbours. Occasionally a grateful person gives him a tenner (and a cup of tea).
The legal arguments involved in that are hugely complicated but it really boils down to the concept that he did something voluntarily without expectation of reward.
Your post, however, suggests to me that sometimes you do jobs for a price or in the expectation of being paid. Then it is taxable.0 -

Are you saying that you're self-employed and sometimes, you get paid in cash?
Or do you have a job, but do something for somebody, and they give you cash?Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac
