Olympus C180 Digital Camera @ Boots

Walked into Boots today and saw the Olympus C180 digital camera on offer at £79.99 (instead of £159.99). It's also triple points this week so that essentially knocks another £9.60 off the price. Here's the link online too:

I don't know much about the camera but it seems pretty good value for money. I'm sure with other codes you can get the price lower...

Anyway here's a quick copy & paste of the features:

Features:

- 5.1 million pixels
- 3.8cm LCD screen
- 4x digital zoom
- "One button, one function" design and scene programmes for easy operation
Movie recording function
- Internal memory of 14 MB (xD-Picture Card compatible)

No optical zoom one should add.

No mention of optical zoom so i wouldn't bother especially at the full price

Check out http://www.cameras.co.uk/details/olympus-c-180.cfm for an impartial review of the camera.

It takes expensive XD cards so bear that in mind.
  • Xd expensive- in what way?

    I just bought 256 mb cards for 317.99 and a 512mb one for £32.00
given the 1 gb ones are around the £55 mark in relation to others I don;t think it is too bad

(btw I bought a couple of 64mb ones 2.5 years ago for £69.99 each !!!)

  • Forgot to mention that I too saw this camera and would agree with a previous poster that whilst it is a 5 megapicel camera the lack of an optical zoom means that it is something that I wouldn't consider-I'd rather go for a 4 megapixel camera with an optical zoom facility.

A 512 SD card is £18 delivered so half the price as an XD card

Just wanted to thank the OP for taking the time to post this. From the replies it looks like we're an ungrateful bunch and if I'd posted something like this (as a newbie) and got the same response, I wouldn't bother again.

    So thanks someguy
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • For the price its an okay starter camera, the picture quality seems fine, yeah it hasn't got optical zoom, but I have a Fuji that cost quite a bit and rarely use my optical zoom. Especially good if you buy it at the 1200 pts for £50 nights and have 1000 when buy digital camera. So my view is for those who just want to get it out and snap away, with reasonable quality pictures, etc, its fine and its cheap. If you buy card at same time they are discounted as well, plus the points.

To sum up the purchase of this camera will depend on what you need it for, obviously more serious people will buy something different and more expensive, but as a cheap camera with a good picture its fine.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D
  • thanks for op.
