I'm not sure if this is the correct board.....
Basically, I am a full time Mum and I have just joined a Mystery Shopper company so that I can get out the house once a week or so. I will be paid £10 for each visit. So I find it highly unlikely that I will go over my taxable allowance. I have very little savings so no other income by way of investments or anything else.
My question is, do I still need to declare this income to revenue & customs if the money earned is under that limit?

Best be on the safe side and let them know anyway! If it doesn't take you over your limit, you won't be any worse off but you'll know everything is above board and there can be no come back

You need to register mainly so that you can get credit for NIC's. Although you will be under the limit for both tax and NIC, registration will complete your NIC record.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

Hate to disagree with others, and I’m no expert on NIC but I was always under the impression that full time mums were entitled to NIC credits at least until the youngest child became 16 or finished full time education.
You’re certainly not going to have to pay any tax or NIC on £10.00 pw but if you register you will be buried in paperwork for a long time.
I offer no guarantees but my wife was a stay at home mum for 17 years and we already have a pension forecast that she will get a full pension when she reaches retirement age.
