Wear on trousers

Wonder if there is anything i can do about this. DH isn't overweight but he has quite meaty thighs:p and is wearing through the insides of his trousers very quickly. he's gone through three pairs of cords since March  . Apart from buying all his trousers off sales rails in bulk, this is costing a lot of money. His suits are a nightmare..he always buys a spare air of trousers, but still...., his favorite suit has given up the ghost after the trousers have been to the menders for patching four times.

is there any thing I can do to lengthen the life of his trousers? His cords are washed once a week/fortnight on 30/40 degrees, his suits drycleaned...rarely :o .

Can I ask (without being personal :o) is it the inside or the outside of the trousers that is wearing?

If it is the inside, maybe reinforcement can be added before he starts to wear them? Something like an all-leg patch, attached to both the side seams to hold it?

Also, has he thought about buying an extra extra pair of trousers - so 3 or even 4 per suit, to reduce the wear on them?

    Just as an extra - Tesco's suits are very reasonable - £61 for jacket & 2 prs of trousers.....£35 + £13 x 2

Don't get cords.. get something more hardwearing. My huby has legs like pencils and wears straight through cords in a few months.. just general shuffling about when sitting and walking too and from work do them in.

His wool trousers wear so much better...

And buy more pairs of trousers per jacket.. we get 4 or 5 pairs of trousers for each jacket.

I was imagining smearing butter between his legs to cut out the friction...but probably not a constructive suggestion all things considered. I'll get me coat. :(

But a fun idea none the less!

I didn't know cords were so short lasting...mine aren't...but yes the time has come to try something different I guess, :o his jeans wear through quickly too, but not quite so quickly.

Time means I have to do his clothes shopping and I feel funny going into sort of fashionable mens shops...so Gap cords have been a good comprimise :o

We found Boden cords to be better.. but they are so expensive even in the sale!

his jeans always go through either side of the crotch seam so he has a 'lump' either side.. PMSL!!
